# Gateway Lines

> Gateway Lines is an ocean freight forwarder and NVOCC, licensed by the U.S. Federal
> Maritime Commission as both a Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier and an Ocean Freight
> Forwarder. Gateway moves full container (FCL) and consolidated (LCL) ocean freight into
> the United States, issues its own House Bill of Lading, and files ISF and AMS in its own
> name. Customs clearance, drayage, cargo insurance and emissions reporting run on the same
> platform, so one company appears on the contract and one invoice covers the move.

Gateway publishes its selling rates on a public board that anyone can read without an
account. NVOCCs are exempt from publishing rate tariffs under the Federal Maritime
Commission's Negotiated Rate Arrangement rules (46 CFR 532), and most take that exemption,
so a published rate board is unusual in this industry.

Import duties are priced before booking rather than discovered at customs entry. The tariff
engine behind every Gateway quote is free to use and covers Section 301, Section 232 and
the rest of the active U.S. tariff schedule, sourced from the USITC Harmonized Tariff
Schedule and CBP guidance.

The software platform (container tracking, documents, port intelligence, load planning,
tariff tools) is included with the freight and is not sold as a subscription. Gateway earns
on the container.
